About Journal of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Case Reports

Welcome to the Journal of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Case Reports (JACCR)
Case reports are the stepping stones in building any body of literature. They are easy to write, have a mass appeal and have an important practical application to patient care.
In recent times this body of evidence has been neglected and the number of case reports accepted by mainstream journals has decreased considerably. Journals as policy are now not accepting case reports due to lack of space and the low priority attached to them. However, other branches like surgery and medicine have journals dedicated exclusively to case reports. The Journal of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Case Reports (JACCR) has been conceived on similar lines in order to cater to  Anaesthetists and Critical Care Physicians

Aims & Scope: Journal of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Case Reports (JACCR) publishes original and interesting case reports and case series that contribute significantly to Anaesthesia & Critical Care Literature and practice. The focus will be on case reports and case series. These include rare cases, cases that have any significant message to deliver and challenging cases that have controversial management options in literature. It may also include any variation in techniques that the authors have innovated or a particular case that in the authors’ opinion holds a special significance. It aims to provide a widely accessible source of useful information to practitioners in the field through the problem- or technique-based approach of published articles.

Manuscripts must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Unexpected or unusual presentations of a disease
  • New associations or variations in disease processes
  • Presentations, diagnoses and/or management of new and emerging diseases
  • An unexpected association between diseases or symptoms
  • An unexpected event in the course of observing or treating a patient
  • New technique or modification of the original technique
  • An unusual complication of a particular disease, medication, treatment protocol or surgery
  • Findings that shed new light on the possible pathogenesis of a disease or an adverse effect
  • A small series of cases with unusual outcomes.
  • A technical note is demonstrated on a single case.
  • A small series of cases less than 15 in number.
  • Case Series, Case reports with literature review

Ownership and Management: Journal of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Case Reports was started in the year 2015. It is owned by Indian Orthopaedic Research Group and Academic research group is the publisher.

About the Group: The Indian Orthopaedic Research Group was started in 2007, however 2011 was the year that established IORG as a cohesive group with a definite direction and aim. It was the year that IORG became one of the fore front organisation of Indian Orthopaedics with a unique agenda of Research and Collaboration. We became one of the largest online communities in Orthopaedics and our Case discussion forum had more than 500 cases being discussed every month and more than 20 thousand Comments every month. We started the IORG Associate membership which had a good response along with the IORG website. IORG website has become a unique portal for all Orthopods, where they can showcase their presentations, find information and also get information about the work of IORG.

Open Access Policy
A comprehensive outlook on open access policy that we follow:

Open access refers to the practice of making peer-reviewed scholarly research and literature freely available online to anyone interested in reading it at no cost and with limited restrictions with regards to reuse. Open access publications are freely and permanently available online to anyone with an internet access. The journal allows unrestricted use, distribution and reproduction in any medium (which is non-commercial), provided the article is properly attributed. All the articles are published, without any technical, financial, gender limitations, in an agreed format on the journal website and deposited in archive and indexing databases as applicable to the journal. All articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), thereby making it fully citable and searchable by title, author name(s) and the full text.

Why open access publishing?

Restricted access to scientific research and advancements through subscription pay wall hinders communication within the scientific community. Moreover, restricted access can also hinder the education and dissemination of scientific knowledge to the aspiring younger generations who are keen to pursue a career in science. Increased productivity and development of science can only be achieved by diffusing knowledge and providing the facilities for creating permanent repositories such as Open Access.

The use of a Creative Commons 4.0 License (CC-BY-NC 4.0) enables user/reader/peer to use the content with clear permission in a way that it can be reused and redistributed as long as the article source is appropriately given credit for non-commercial purpose.

Self-Archiving Policy for Authors
Journal of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Case Reports upholds a Repository Policy. Authors are encouraged to deposit the final published PDF in their institutional repository or any suitable subject repository (according to the end-user license of the article, i.e., strictly for non-commercial re-use) immediately upon publication. The deposited version should contain the URL and link to the online published version on the publisher’s website to clearly identify it as the definitive version of record.

Abstract and Citation information

Authors can share the Abstract and “How to cite” information (e.g., Title, Author name, Publication dates) of their article anywhere at any time including social media such as Facebook, blogs and Twitter, with proper attribution to the original source (the Publisher website) or include the DOI number in the social media post that links it to the published article on the Journal website.

Submitted Version

Submitted version or the preprint version is recognized as the author version of an article before submission to a journal for peer review. The author accepts full responsibility for the article, and the content and layout are set out by the author.

Authors can post their preprint version on preprint servers of the authors’ choice, authors’ or institutional websites, preprint servers or preprint commenting platforms, intended for non-commercial use. When submitting the manuscript to the journal, authors must disclose all pertinent information regarding preprint publication, such as the DOI and licencing terms. The author must make sure that the preprint record is updated with a publication reference after it is published, including the DOI and a URL link to the journal website where the paper has been published.

Accepted Manuscript

The accepted manuscript is the peer reviewed version (not the final published version) as accepted for publication by the journal that includes modifications based on reviewers’ suggestions. This version excludes copy editing and type setting changes.

The journal does not recommend the authors to upload accepted manuscript to their personal website/ institutional or other non-commercial subject-based repositories.

Published Version

Published Version is defined as the final version of the article that has been made available by the Publisher on the respective journal website by formally and exclusively putting the article either in ‘online first’ or releasing it as a part of the complete issue of that journal. This is the final, definitive, citable version of your paper, which has been copyedited, typeset, has metadata applied, and has been allocated a DOI.

Authors may share the published version with private groups within their institution or through private groups on non-commercial repositories that are signatories to the STM Voluntary principles for article sharing on Scholarly Collaboration Networks (SCN). The published version may not be uploaded or shared on commercial websites or repositories unless the website or repository has signed an agreement with the publisher permitting such uploading or sharing.
